Urban Ducklings may sound like the subtitle of a really bad Howard the Duck sequel, but it’s actual a pretty nifty new casual arcade game. Thanks to the Iphone’s unique controls, Urban Ducklings gives the classic “cross the road” genre a new twist (pun intended).

Orbital takes simple gameplay and dresses it up with a unique “gravity” feature and enhanced graphics. The game can be very frustrating at times, but that won’t keep you from coming back for another try.

32 x 32 is a simple and elegant drawing tool that allows even the artistically impaired to create a mini- masterpiece.

If you enjoy worms, but are looking for something with a little more depth, I don’t think you could be wrong in purchasing Star Hogs.

I think we need more pinball games in the app store. When they are done right they are such a treat. WildWest has some pinball-tastic game play and at that price you have to get it, seriously – Now!

MUST.EAT.BIRDS. stands out from the large pack of App Store casual games with fantastic graphics and a general sense of absurdism, but the lack of online scores and a frustrating mission structure compromise replay value.

Snakes on a 3D Plane. A beautiful but vapid diversion, which drags the old-skool cellphone game slithering and sliding into the 21st century.

A beautifully drawn Manga comic for your device. The graphics are stunning and a comic could make a nice gift idea for the geek in your life. [me! me!]

The attempt at previews in realtime is truly impressive and the filters within Chimera are diverse. The interface could use some work and giving the user a choice on resolution would give casual shooters an option to sacrifice quality for speed. Some of the current limitations stem from the hardware it must employ. Still, this is definitely an application to watch as it reaches maturity.

Gravulous is a space themed hybrid of pool and marbles with planets as your playing pieces. However, in the middle of the Newtonian planet-cracking gameplay, a relativistic entity, the Gravulous, is waiting patiently to take advantage of even your smallest mistake.

Otto Matic is a basic 3D platformer that is extremely pretty but suffers due to it’s lack of gameplay and iffy controls. If you are a junky of the genre or just have fond memories of this game when it was on your Mac, pick it up.

Route Candle is kind of like playing golf with fire in a dungeon. Only instead of holes, you light candles, and instead of being a golfer, you’re a flame. Oh, and your useful little companions are matches.

This is a platform game of the popular tv show Inspector Gadget. Graphics and sound remain true to the series and are really well executed. The game play however, makes this a real disappointment to loyal fans .

This application brings art to your iPhone. It’s a version of the Jackson Pollock web application, and it’s fun to be able to paint like the master! You will find yourself showing people this application …and then, not getting your iPhone back because they want to keep painting.

Frogs and rockclimbing? What is this madness? Ancient Games takes an original concept and turns it into a series of difficult puzzles, complete with beautiful, photorealistic graphics and a hundred levels that mix zen with frustration. This might be one of the best puzzles in the App Store.
