astragon Entertainment have released a new update for its marquee construction sim, Construction Simulator 2, which brings with it a glut of new machines and vehicles to get behind. Available now for both iOS and Android users, becoming the biggest real-estate tycoon based in the Westside Plains just got a little more enticing.

Taking its already impressive licensed vehicle line-up to well over 40, Construction Simulator 2’s big update sees machines from Mack Trucks and MEILLER Kipper enter the fold. This means that as well as manning heavy-duty trucks from well-known makers like Caterpillar, Liebherr, Palfinger, Kenworth Bell Equipment, STILL and ATLAS, players can now put the pedal to the medal with the Mack Titan tractor truck and MEILLER MHKA semi-trailer to better complete jobs on time.

Dig a little deeper into Construction Simulator 2 when you load it up next, and there’s more to unearth by way of new missions to complete and tasks to carry out. Load, shift, and excavate your way to success by making use of the new machinery that awaits. Those seeking to get their regular forklift fix can also look forward to driving a real STILL® RX60-80 forklift, which now replaces the base model from before.

Construction Simulator 2’s jam-packed update also has a special treat in store for Android players, adding in experimental external game controller support. Simply connect your gamepad to your smartphone or tablet, and you’ll be greeted by a cleaned-up game OS, meaning you can keep on trucking uninterrupted.

Dig into all the new construction content, Construction Simulator 2’s latest update is available for iOS and Android now.

Fold the World is an innovative puzzle game which introduces completely new mechanics [Sponsored]

Posted by 148Apps Staff on October 30th, 2015

Fold the World is an innovative new puzzle game that just launched on iOS in which you have to travel across the three different worlds of the Paper Kingdom and complete 60 handcrafted puzzles to defeat the Lord of Darkness.

The puzzles are like an interactive pop-up book in which you have to fold paper to help the hero Yolo navigate to the end of each level, collecting items along the way.

There are some interesting mechanics thrown in that have never been seen before like magic ink which lights your path, bookmarks and sticky notes to help you keep track, and full Origami designs to create.

We reached out to Uri Golan, Developer Relations Manager at TabTale and Taliuk Oleg, Founder at Eon Games to discuss the challenges faced during development, what they're most proud of, and the plans for future updates.

Build a Prosperous Empire from the ground Up in Simulation Rise of Rome

Posted by Simon Reed on August 7th, 2014

If you’re looking for an historic simulation game that allows you to become the leader of one of three factions (Julius Caesar, Scipio Africanus, Marcus Junius Brutus), you may enjoy Rise of Rome, which is now available on the App Store and Google Play.

Rise of Rome is all about expansion. Your aim is to build a prosperous empire, and subsequently defend it from rival factions and empires. As you defeat opponents and progress through the game, you’ll earn resources, which are useful for developing both your army and your city.

There are multiple ways to customise your armed forces. There are over 72 different classes of soldier (such as elephants and stone throwers) to choose from, for example, as well as eight different battle formations on offer.

There’s also a ‘corps system’ that allows you to form alliances with other lords from the same faction. You can even share information with them.

RNTS Media plans to add more content to Rise of Rome. The first update to the game will likely be released in October, and introduce a new coliseum in which you’ll be able to earn high-ranking items.

Interested? If so, grab Rise of Rome from the App Store or Google Play. It’s free, after all.

Thanks to DreamWalk for sponsoring the RSS feed this week.

If you have been waiting for your iPhone and your real life to collide, the time has come. Sure, we’ve had some augmented reality and social gaming apps come out in the past year, but none have put anything solid in my hands. On March 1, DreamWalk will become the first app of its kind, using the iPhone as a treasure map of sorts to put you on a quest to win real world prizes. Sometimes when I wake up I feel like a pirate, but never have I come so close!

We had a chance to talk to Joseph Russell, CEO of DreamWalk about this app. [ Read More ]

iPhone & Apple Watch App - Designed for iPhone and Apple Watch, compatible with iPad

Big thanks to Vito Technologies, developers of Star Walk for sponsoring our RSS feed this week.

Star Walk is one of those applications that once you have it, you show it off to everyone you know. On my iPhone 3GS, I just launch the app and raise my phone up to the sky, positioning it like I'm looking through the phone. Star Walk automatically adjusts the view on the screen to show you annotated star charts of what you are looking out. So if you see a bright star in the sky, you can just raise you phone up to it and see what it's name is. Also great for finding constellations and searching for the position of stars.

But Star Walk is a lot more than that. They also include a time machine so that you can see what the stars look like at any time from any location. Astronomy picture of the day, integrated help, moon phases, and links to Wikipedia for more information on many of the objects in the app.

Click here for more information or to download Star Walk from the iTunes App Store.

[/caption]WorldMate Gold is our sponsor this week for the 148Apps RSS feed.

WorldMate Gold has been updated to include push notification flight alerts. It's a fantastic use for push notifications. This updated version also includes the ability to suggest hotels based on your preferences for price, rating, etc. and then book them right on your iPhone.

The coolest feature remains the ability to forward your travel itinerary -- you know the confirmation emails you get from the airlines, hotels, etc -- to an email address and have them show up right in the app. You don't have to enter your travel plans, they just show up right in the app.

WorldMate Gold is available on the iTunes App Store.
