When you've lost that fifth game in a row and you're getting horrendously trolled with emoticons, you'll likely look to your wallet to get you back on the winning path.

With gems you can buy gold, unlock chests early, buy chests, and even outright buy cards available in the store.

Considering there's so much to do with gems, we thought you'd run you through the best ways to spend them.

Buy gold to spend on cards and upgrades

Buying gold is the best thing you can do with your gemsbecause you can then spend them on exactly what you want.

You can then go to the shop and grab that rare or epic card you desperately need, or use the money to grab some cheap common cards to upgrade existing cards.

Unlock chests early

You can use gems to buy chests, but it's expensive. Instead, it may be better to use your gems to open chests you've already unlocked. Try thinking of these as discounted chests.

For example, if you earn a Giant Chest from winning a battle, it costs 72 gems to unlock, but that same chest in the game shop can cost anywhere from 210-490 gems, depending on your arena level.

If you have to buy a chest, buy Super Magical

Yes, buying chests isn't always the most efficient way to spend gems, but if you plan on doing it anyway, buy the Super Magical Chest.

Not only are they guaranteed to drop high numbers of rare or epic cards, they also have the highest probability of containing a legendary card - the hardest cards to obtain in the game.
