Pocket Gamer Awards 2021: You have five hours left to get your votes in!

Three weeks ago our sister site, Pocket Gamer, entered the voting stage for the upcoming Pocket Gamer Awards 2021 and is now in the final stretch. You only have a few hours left to vote for the games you’ve enjoyed on mobile in the past year, as well as celebrating the developers themselves and the devices you use to game on.

In addition to the prestigious ‘Mobile Game of the Year Award’, there are many other numerous categories as well, from the best game on Apple Arcade to the best gaming accessory, there’s a way to celebrate every single aspect of mobile gaming.

Slashy Camp is a new endless runner inspired by 80s slasher movies out now on iOS and Android

Blue Wizard Digital has released Slashy Camp onto iOS and Android after it spent a short amount of time in early access.

Inspired by slasher films of the 1980s, Slashy Camp has you playing as a serial killer called Skullface, who hunts isolated campgrounds for campers to kill. Using your finger you swipe on the screen to control his actions and stalk the teenagers.

Kinder World is a relaxing game about looking after houseplants, coming soon to mobile

Lumi Interactive is releasing a game called Kinder World later this year on iOS and Android, which is all about looking after houseplants.

In Kinder World, you practice self-kindness skills by taking care of beautiful houseplants in a relaxing environment. Lumi has referenced games such as Animal Crossing and Neko Atsume as inspiration, for example their pacifist themes were a big motivator for the team to create something similar.

Poly Vita is a chill puzzle game coming to iOS next month

Indie developer Alejandro Zielinsky is releasing Poly Vita, a puzzle game with visuals that remind us of Monument Valley, and it’s coming to iOS on 17th March.

Poly Vita will take you on a journey through a variety of different locations, asking you to solve a series of puzzles to help you guide Maya, the protagonist, through her dreams. The main goal of each stage is to build a path linking each of the soul fragments that you find in Maya’s subconscious.

Hearthstone’s new expansion coming soon, more updates to follow

Blizzard is releasing a new expansion for Hearthstone called Forged in the Barrens. It’s coming to all platforms later this year to coincide with its celebrations for Year of the Gryphon.

Forged in the Barrens introduced 135 new cards to play which are themed around the same iconic location from World of Warcraft. There are also new keywords and game mechanics being added too, as well as ten Legendary Mercenary minions that each represent a different class in Hearthstone.

Quad racing game ATV XTrem out on iOS and Android

Dream-Up has released a brand new free to play racing game featuring quad bikes called ATV XTrem, available on both iOS and Android devices.

In ATV XTrem, you speed around different off-road courses around the world, visiting places such as Brazil, Utah, Dubai and Los Angeles to win big prestigious awards. This allows for a variety of different climates and track types which will challenge your quad biking skills.

Five Dates, an interactive rom-com, is out now on iOS

Five Dates, a self-described “interactive rom-com” from Wales Interactive, is out now on iOS after an earlier release on PC and consoles last year.

The game is a dating simulator that consists of live-action filmed sequences and a choose your own adventure format. You play as Vinny, a single man bored during the COVID-19 lockdowns and joins a dating app to go on virtual video dates with women living in London.

Knightin’+ is a Zelda-like adventure game coming tomorrow for mobile

Crescent Moon Games has revealed its upcoming puzzle adventure game, Knightin’+, will launch tomorrow on iOS and Android. It’s being developed by Muzt Die Studios and was originally released on Steam back almost two years ago.

Self-described as a “Zelda-lite”, Knightin’+ puts you in the role of Sir Lootalot, a knight battling through several dangerous dungeons which are filled with traps, puzzles and magical artifacts.

RogueRun Abyss Tower is a roguelike autorunner available now on mobile

Zoo Corporation has released RogueRun Abyss Tower, a mix of roguelike and endless runner, on the iOS and Android store pages.

In RogueRun Abyss Tower, you explore a series of randomly generated dungeons using simple controls which only require you to tap left or right to move around corners or obstacles. Your character can also jump, roll and climb too in order to get deeper beneath the ruins of these ancient dungeons.

Cyberpunk endless runner Life Journey is out now on iOS and Android

Casual roguelike Wizard Legend: Fighting Master out now on iOS

Loongcheer Game and Greybeard Studio has released is mobile casual roguelike Wizard Legends: Fighting Master on iOS. Previously, the game had launched on Android as an early access title in December.

It’s a roguelike action game where you play as a wizard who must fight against an army of mutated desserts, which turned hostile by an evil dessert corporation. It’s up to you to uncover the truth behind these mutations and stop them.

Populus Run is an endless runner coming to Apple Arcade this Friday

Populus Run from developer FIFTYTWO is an upcoming endless runner which will be releasing on Apple Arcade this Friday.

While there are already quite a lot of endless runners already available on iOS, this one promises to be a bit more unconventional for the genre. For starters, instead of controlling a single character, you control a small group instead as you run, jump and slide your way through the levels. This assortment of characters is randomised, and looks to be part of the chaotic nature of the gameplay.

Barry Mitchell is a game designer with a nostalgic fondness for the classic ‘80s arcade game, Defender, so much so that he’s now revamped the game as a fresh new title for iOS and it’s out today.

Much like the original title which inspired it, Space Defender 3D is a side-scroller set in deep space where you pilot a lone spacecraft as it battles through dozens of enemy alien fighter ships. To truly put your skills to the test, there are bosses appearing at the end of every wave which bring a huge challenge to the table, and you can choose between five difficulty levels if you want to tone your experience in a way that it doesn’t feel too difficult or too easy.

Nuts is a squirrel adventure game coming to Apple Arcade on Friday

Noodlecake’s Nuts is a lo-fi photography game about surveying and documenting the secret lives of squirrels. It’s coming to Apple Arcade this Friday, 22nd January, with a further release coming later on PC and Nintendo Switch.

In Nuts, you play as a novice field researcher who places cameras to capture footage during the day and watches the footage later at night. You have to place the cameras in suitable locations, searching for a place to give you the best footage, and through trial and error you’ll gradually come to work out how the best way to do this is.

Super JetPak DX’s physical preorders still up for two more weeks

The physical cartridge edition of Pocket Pixel Design’s Super JetPak DX is still available to preorder and will be until 31st January, with the game launching later this year on the Nintendo Game Boy.

In Super JetPak DX, you play as a lonely astronaut who is lost on various alien worlds across the galaxy, and must get home by moving around in a jetpack while avoiding being killed by the different hazards each planet holds. You collect different components in your shuttle and use it to fly away to new worlds, hopefully hopping enough times to make it home. You also must contend with hostile aliens and the hazardous environment as well.
