While some of us are still waiting for a chance to get our hands on Ash Prime - yes, don’t remind me I could currently buy him this month I’m barely hanging on - Digital Extremes has announced its next anticipated Prime Form for Warframe. Starting May 1st, players can control time itself.

Announced during Devstream, 178 at PAX East last month, Protea Prime will make its debut. For the lore divers, Protea was assigned as the bodyguard for the Founder of the Corpus Faction, Parvos Granum. As far as protectors go, one that can make a mockery of the laws of time is probably a good bet.

In combat, Protea Prime has quite a diverse playstyle. Groups of enemies can be devastated with a cluster of grenades thrown into their midst, plasma charges can add some sci-fi to proceedings, and you can even play support by dispensing health and energy pickups. Throw in some time manipulation, and Protea sounds a little broken.

If this strikes your fancy - how could it not? - then come May 1st you’re going to need to start grinding Void Fissure Missions. You will need to collect the Blueprint, Chassis, Systems, and Neuroptics. These will also be available from the in-game marketplace if you want to just throw money at the problem.

Along with the Warframe, you will, of course, be able to try out some new weapons. Time control lends itself to some quick and speedy trickery, so complement this with the Okina Prime daggers. You can also pick up the single-handed pistol Velox Prime so a bit of mid-range mischief.

For the fashion-conscious, there will be new cosmetic items available in the Protea Prime marketplace bundles, like the Chronorum Helemnt, and the Temporal Prime Ephemera energy aura. Just prior to this release, tune into Devstream 179 for some TennoCon 2024 details, another peek at Warframe: 1999, and an update on Jade Shadows.

Warframe is available to download from the App Store now.
