Tencent and Shenqu Games has released a new trailer for its upcoming Don’t Starve: Newhome, the mobile spin-off to Klei’s popular Don’t Starve series. The game is slated for release on iOS and Android at some point in the future.

The two developers have kept details on Don’t Starve: Newhome to a bare minimum until now. The new trailer explains the premise of the game but doesn’t show us any new gameplay yet. If you’re a fan of its strange art style though, as I am, then it’s a good idea to check it out below.

What we do know about the game is that Klei isn’t handling the development itself but is instead being done by Tencent and Shenqu Games, who are introducing more social and multiplayer gameplay mechanics to the game similar to what Don’t Starve Together did.

It’ll have ongoing live support to provide the game with more content to keep it fresh and interesting, while also adapting the gameplay to suit the mobile experience.

This means play sessions will be much faster than you might expect, as well as including new survival and exploration features to make everything a bit more accessible on the smaller screen.

This makes sense to me, as my experience with Don’t Starve is that every playthrough usually takes a while to pick the momentum. When I’m playing a mobile game, I may not necessarily have the time to wait around for that to happen, so it’s good to know things will be sped up in that regard.

Apart from that, a lot of the gameplay in Don’t Starve Newhome will be very familiar to you. You can set up a permanent base and discover numerous creatures, crafting recipes, and structures to build in either a singleplayer or multiplayer format.

Don’t Starve: Newhome will release in the future on the iOS App Store and the Google Play for Android store.
