Larian Studios, the team behind the award-winning RPG Divinity: Original Sin 2, is releasing the game for iPad devices today. From today you’ll be able to play the game on your iPad or iPad Pro.

This port of the game was handled by Saint Petersburg-based studio Elverils, which spent two years rebuilding it from the ground up to create an iOS version of the game that is on par with the one seen on PC and consoles.

This means you can play Divinity: Original Sin 2 in its entirety, in an experience similar to how it was on other platforms, straight from the sofa on your iPad device. There are no sacrifices made to the graphics or gameplay either, making it entirely the same game faithfully adapted for mobile users.

The game takes advantage of the advanced hardware seen in recent iPad models to deliver new optimisations that allow it to run smoothly. It aims to match the ambitious quality that Divinity: Original Sin 2 had originally set, meaning it runs on ‘Highest’ graphics settings on the 2018 iPad Pro model and at 60fps on the 2021 model, even during splitscreen co-op.

Meanwhile, touch screen support is also present, but you can still use a controller or keyboard and mouse if you’d prefer. There’s a new user interface with larger icons and a smoother menu to ensure the game works well with these touch screen devices too.

The popular drop-in and drop-out co-operative gameplay is also present, offering cross-play with the PC and Mac versions too. So you’ll be able to venture out on quests with your friends who might be playing it on another platform. It also includes cross-save too, allowing you to continue your playthrough across multiple devices and platforms, should you own the game on them.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 is available to download now from the iOS App Store. It’s exclusive to iPads, so iPhone users won’t be able to play it, and it costs $24.99.
