“Grid - Distance - Area” is a handy app for digitizing an Area Feature, viewing its area and perimeter, and creating grid points or grid lines over the area. Foresters could use the grid points as the prism points for timber cruising, farmers could take soil samples or measure pH, and scientist could measure air or water content at these points. This app also provides a Measure Distance tool for viewing distances between successive taps on the screen as well as the total distance. There is a Measure Area tool as well for viewing the area of a region delineated on the screen. The line segments are displayed with angles and distances. You may specify the distance unit and choose between Azimuth and Bearing for displaying angles. You may save and email the grid file (*.gdf), or output the drawing and coordinates as a PDF file. If your device has GPS capability, you may pick the GPS location as a node for your Area Feature or the distance/area measurements. Please note: Location data depends on the GPS receiver used. Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. This app will let you easily toggle the built-in GPS on or off. It comes with a built-in help file.
