It's that time again - Thursday has rolled around which means the latest batch of new mobile games has landed on the App Store. There's loads of them, like there always is, so we've taken steps to make sure you know which are the best games that have come out for iPhone and iPad over the last seven days. Those steps are basically writing, and then posting, this list.

We've picked what we think are the finest new gaming experiences for your shiny phone or tablet, and we've given you download links so you can grab them in the shortest amount of time possible. We've even written down why we think you're going to enjoy the games. What a wonderful service we're providing for you.

If you've got your own suggestions for games that people should be playing this week, then do let everyone know in the comments section at the bottom of the article. And click right here to check out what we thought the best games of last week were. That's the preamble done, let's move on to the main event.

Revolve8

- Click here to download for iOS

At first glance this one might look like a Clash Royale clone, but if you stick with it you're going to discover one of the finest PvP RTS experiences that the App Store has to offer. Collect twisted versions of fairytale heroes (the emperor from The Emperor's New Clothes is our personal favorite), and then battle with other teams to be the first to smash your opponent's bases.

The Stillness of the Wind

- Click here to download for iOS

A melancholic, slow game about a goat farm on the edge of a desert. You play an old woman who has to tend to the farm - milking the goats, collecting eggs, planting and tending to seeds, and dragging water out of the well at the edge of your property. All the while you're building up your routine, the world outside of the farm is starting to fall apart. This is a game that's definitely going to make you think.

Squish Machine

- Click here to download for iOS

Any game that channels Nitrome and Star Wars is fine by us. This is a short and sharp action platformer that sees you bouncing around a screen trying to push a button. That button stops the spikes at the top and bottom of the screen from closing in on you. The first few buttons are easy to push, but after that you're facing circular saws, more spikes, and a whole host of enemies too.

Elemancer

- Click here to download for iOS

There might be a lot of card games out there in mobile gaming land, but we're always happy to see new ones coming along if they do something different. Elemancer feels like it's trying to fit in the space between Hearthstone and the more casual end of the market, and if it can build up a big enough player base, we're pretty excited to see what the game can do.

The Horns

- Click here to download for iOS

This is out leftfield choice of the week. It's a text-based adventure game set in 1920s England. Except it's a 1920s England where a strange black fog has descended and ominous and evil creatures are stalking the land. It's up to you to figure out what's going on. And, perhaps more importantly, stay alive. Thanks to all the choices you have to make here, no two playthroughs are ever going to be the same.

The top 5 best word games for iPhone and iPad

Posted by Harry Slater on February 6th, 2019

Word games can be a tricky genre to pin down. There are so many variations out there that sometimes it's hard to decide whether or not a game fits into the little pocket you're trying to push it into. That doesn't bother us though, because it's our job to do things like that. Which is why we've written this list of the best words game for iOS.

We're pretty sure we've picked five games that best represent every corner of the word game genre, from mystery to action, with a fat chunk of puzzling thrown in for good measure. Some of these games are going to make you think about the words you use in a completely different way, and we think that's something that should be shouted from the rooftops.

If you've got your own favorite word game that hasn't been included on the list, do let us know in the comments section at the bottom of the article. And if you click here you can check out all of the other lists on the site - each one is a work of exquisite beauty, even if we do say so ourselves. Right then, on with the word games.

It's Thursday, which means that most of the new games that are going to come out this week, have come out. There's loads of them, as ever, so we've picked what we think are the three best that have landed on the App Store over the past seven days. And we think we've got a trio of proper smashers for you this week.

If you like shooting, escaping, or the painful drudgery of the working world, then there's going to be something here for you. We've got a port, and two games that are making their debut on the App Store. And all three are an awful lot of fun.

Since this is such a short list, there's a chance we've missed your favorite game off. Don't get angry though, just let us know in the comments section at the bottom of the article - after all, we all love mobile gaming.

You can click here to check out some of the other awesome lists we've been writing as well. They're all really good, but then we would say that. Right then, on with our pick of the top games for iPhone and iPad that came out this week.

The top 3 best movie and TV tie-in games for iPhone and iPad

Posted by Harry Slater on January 28th, 2019

Last week, Alien: Blackout landed on mobile. It's a pretty interesting take on the franchise that sees you playing as Ripley's daughter and guiding a team of rescuers through the xenomorph-infested corridors of a stricken space station. Think Five Nights at Freddy's but with Giger-designed monsters instead of animatronic teddy bears and you're getting there.

All of that made us think about the other games you can grab on the App Store that are based on best-selling pop culture franchises. We've picked three, but obviously there are way more out there. We'd love to hear if you've got your own, so do make your own suggestions in the comments section down at the bottom of the article.

That about covers it. Click here and you can check out all the other awesome lists we've written over the past few months. Each of them reveals some of the best games you can get on mobile, so once you've read them all you're going to be something close to a mobile gaming expert.

It's that time of the week again - we're going to check out what we think are the top five games that have come out on the App Store over the last seven days. There are some big names on the list, some small names on the list, and some middle-sized names on the list. We're covering a lot of bases here, just saying.

Obviously if you've got your own suggestions we'd love to hear them. If it was up to us we'd make this list about 20 times longer, but we simply don't have the time, so adding your own ideas is going to fill us with a lovely kind of share-y joy.

Click here and you can check out a whole bunch of the other lists that we've been creating over the past few months. Much like this list, we reckon there's going to be something for everyone there. And that's the 148Apps guarantee.

It's been a pretty good seven days for mobile gaming - if you want proof you can click here and check out our five favorite games that came out this week - but now we're going to turn our attention to the future. We're sort of like psychics, except what we're saying is based on actual facts rather than just things we've made up in our brains.

There's a chance some of these games might not come out next week, such is the fickle nature of the mobile gaming beast, but we're pretty sure they're going to land when they said they would. And there might be other games we've not spotted coming out too - if you've seen any, do let us know in the comments section at the bottom of the article, we'd love to hear from you.

You can check out all the other great lists we've been making recently by clicking this link, and while we're a bit biased, we definitely reckon you should have a look through - there's some great work there even if we do say so ourselves. Right we've done our due diligence, let's get on with getting excited about next week's games.

The top 3 best idle games for iPhone and iPad

Posted by Harry Slater on January 16th, 2019

Sometimes you want to play a game where you don't really have to do anything. Don't worry, we're not here to judge you, we're exactly the same. We love some action when we're in the right mood, but sometimes we want something a little more chill - something that lets us turn our brains off when we pick it up. Which is why we've written this list of our three favorite idle games for iOS.

These are the games that really got under our skin, be it because of the compulsion loops they generate, or the simple fact that they're a brilliant slice of distracting fun. Obviously, with this being a short list, there's a good chance that you're not going to see some of the games you'd pick on it. That's cool though, we'd still love to hear about them, so let us know what they are in the comments section at the bottom of the article.

And if that wasn't enough, you can smash a click right here to check out all of the other amazing lists we've been creating over the last few months. Each one of them will reveal some new aspect of mobile gaming to you, so it's well worth taking the time to read them all. Well, we would say that, but anyway, on with the list.

The top 5 best games with great stories for iPhone and iPad

Posted by Harry Slater on January 14th, 2019

Last week we took a look at the best games for iOS that you could waste hours and hours of your life playing, so now we thought we'd have a look at the top 5 games for iPhone and iPad that have great stories. These are the tales that have stuck with us the most, or the games that weave their stories with the most skill, intelligence, and fun.

Obviously stories are really, really subjective - how they hit you can differ depending on where you are in your life, the things you've seen, and even something as seemingly unimportant as whether you're experiencing that story in the day or at night. With that in mind, there's a good chance that your own favorite story didn't make the list - be sure to let us know about it in the comments at the bottom of the article, we'd love to hear how mobile gaming has affected people.

And obviously while you're here, you should definitely check out all of the other amazing lists we've been writing over the past few months. There's some great stuff there, and if you click here you'll be able to check all of the lists out at your own leisure. You're welcome.

How will World of Warcraft, Starcraft, and Blizzard's other games work for mobile?

Posted by Harry Slater on January 14th, 2019

You might have heard that Blizzard is bringing Diablo to mobile with Diablo Ultimate. There's been plenty of controversy surrounding that decision, and it's meant that a really important piece of information has been glossed over a little. Namely that Blizzard is bringing all of its IP to mobile in the foreseeable future.

Obviously that kicked our brains into gear here at 148App's palatial research unit. We got to thinking about how Blizzard's massive franchises could make it onto the App Store. And then we wrote down those thoughts. What you're looking at now is the culmination of that endeavour.

If you've got your own suggestions as to how Blizzard could squish its game down to pocket-sized, then be sure to let us know in the comments at the bottom of the article. First though, let's find out what we thought about the obstacles and challenges that are waiting for Blizzard.

The top 3 best iPhone games that you can play for hours

Posted by Harry Slater on January 14th, 2019

Sometimes you're on the lookout for a game that's going to last for a long, long time. Which is why we've come up with this short list that breaks down three games that we think are going to suck up vast swathes of your free time. And, if you're not careful, vast swathes of the time you should be doing productive and life-prolonging things.

This, as you can tell, is a pretty short list, which means it's possible we've missed out something that you've spent hours on - that doesn't mean we hate those games though, and we'd love to hear the reasons you think they've stuck around for so long on your iPhone or iPad.

You'll find even more awesome lists by smashing a click right here - from genres to play-time, from style to art-style, we've got something for everyone in our huge list of lists. Right, enough time wasting, let's list the games that are the very best for wasting your time on.

The top 3 best iPhone and iPad games coming out next week

Our mission here at 148Apps is pretty simple - we want to make sure that you're playing the best iPhone and iPad games in the world. Which is why, every Friday, we like to give you an insight into the incredible games that are set to rock your world in the next seven days. Call it a headstart on the rest of the world, if you'd like.

It's possible next week is going to be a little thin on the ground when it comes to new releases, although we're often pleasantly surprised on weeks like that when something amazing sneaks out at the last second. That's not to say the games we've picked aren't great, just that there aren't that many of them.

Click here and you'll be able to check out all of the other interesting lists we've created over the last few months. Or, if you'd rather we just got on with telling you with what games are coming out next week, we're just about to get on with telling you what games are coming out next week.

Hang Line: Mountain Climber

- pre-order for iOS

Getting mountain climbing games right is difficult, but it's always good to see another studio trying. This one doesn't take itself too seriously, but there's a lot of swinging, plenty of grabbing, and more than a few stranded climbers that you're going to have to help to safety. It's bright and cheery, and if it gets its controls right it may well become a sleeper hit in 2019.

Sheeping Around

- pre-order for iOS

This one's a strategic card game with a silly core concept - it's about either trying to steal or protect a small flock of sheep. You pick to be the shepherd or the poacher, and it's up to you to make it back home with two out of three sheep in your possession. You're going to be playing online against real players, which should give this one the energy it needs to succeed.

Galaxy Stack

- pre-order for iOS

This one's a little more simple. It takes the bones of a shooter, wraps them around a stuff-stacking device, and then lets you go nuts. You're not just mowing down waves of incoming alien fighters, you're piling up their shattered remains as a taunt to any other space monsters that might want to come and have a go. Wow, that's actually really dark when you type it out.

The top 5 best games for iPhone and iPad that came out this week

Posted by Harry Slater on January 11th, 2019

It's been a pretty decent week for releases on the App Store, all told. This week has the feeling of a mobile-first start to the year, with developers releasing games that fit perfectly in the palm of your hand. And we've picked what we think are the top 5 games that you should be playing from the recent crop of App Store debutants.

There's some hardcore screaming, a tiny piano, and one of the most interesting dungeon crawlers we've seen in a while. And there's a lot of block-busting, which fans of a certain arcade era are going to adore. Of course, we might have missed out on your favorite, so be sure to let us know your own suggestions in the comments section at the bottom of the article.

Click here and you'll be able to check out all the other awesome lists we've been creating, ranging from the best new releases to our top picks of the finest games in every genre. Basically, if you want to know anything about mobile gaming, this is the place to find it out.

Most Anticipated Games 2019

Posted by Campbell Bird on January 8th, 2019

All told, I think 2018 was an ok year for mobile games. There were some truly great titles, but there wasn't any sort of deluge of amazing games as there have been in the past.

2019, however, is looking to be quite a stunner for mobile. There's a lot of releases just over the horizon that I really can't wait to get my hands on. See some of my top picks of most anticipated games below:

Space Haven

Space Haven was on my most anticipated games list last year, but I knew it was a bit of a stretch. There was no promised release date for 2018, and the game looks like an ambitious combination of Dwarf Fortress and FTL. Here's to hoping this game can come out this year, and here's to hoping it's the less-combat-forward version of Star Command that I'm hoping it will be.

The top 4 games coming out for iPhone and iPad next week

The first few days of the year are always a bit of a write-off, but we're getting back up to speed here at 148Apps. And when we're at speed, we like to make sure that you're all up to date with the games you're going to be playing soon. Which is exactly what this list of the top games coming out next week intends to do.

We've checked our records and sent out emails to the right people, and we reckon these four games are the finest that are going to hit the App Store over the next seven days. We might be wrong, but we think we've had our best stab at it - if you disagree though, do let us know in the comments at the bottom of the article.

While you're here, why not have a click through to check out some of the other awesome content we've been making over the past few months. Even if we do say so ourselves, it's all really, really good.
