App Description

The John Corbett Way is a 7 1/2 mile waymarked walk celebrating the life and achievements of John Corbett, the 'Salt King'. In the mid to late 19th century John Corbett manufactured salt at Stoke Works in north Worcestershire and became the toast of local people and his employees alike with his enlightened views on the wealth, health and happiness of his workers. He went on to become famous as a philanthropist, giving money to a wide variety of projects close to his heart including church restorations, 'model' housing projects for his workers and so much more besides.

This app follows the 'Way' from its start point at Avoncroft Community Arts Centre to Droitwich Heritage Centre where it finishes.

In between are a number of interpretation panels outlining Johns accomplishments which are mirrored in the app itself.

Each interpretation panel 'place' has a number of audio reminiscences associated with it in which local people, Johns ancestors and local historians tell us of his life and achievements in their own words.

This app makes use of GPS to show you points of interest close to your current location. Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.
