Nickelodeon Has Brought Nick Jr. to the Apple Watch

Parents planning to pick up an Apple Watch can celebrate as Nickelodeon has updated the Nick Jr. app for the Apple Watch. The app gives you greater parental controls over the iPhone/iPad app and offers kids exciting shows and activities. With your watch you'll be able to set a timer on your kids viewing time, regulate volume, and start or stop the playback. You'll also be able to see what your kids are watching with just a glance.

"The addition of Apple Watch support for the Nick Jr. app is another opportunity for innovation at Nickelodeon, allowing parents to conveniently supervise and manage screen time on their iPhones while providing kids with the freedom to explore and learn," said Matthew Evans, SVP, Digital, Viacom Kids and Family Group, in a press release.

You can download the Nick Jr. app for free on and check it out on the Apple Watch whenever you manage to get ahold of one.

With the Apple Watch set to become available (kind of) very, very soon, it's no surprise to see more and more apps and games updating to support the new device. Some of them seem a bit odd, though. Like Asphalt 8? Really?

SPY_WATCH, by Bossa Studios, is a new game designed for the Apple Watch. Runmor has it your spy agency has fallen out of favor. To save it, you'll need to train-up a spy and send them on missions to earn you a stunningly suspicious reputation and some cash to improve your spy's abilities. The app will send you real-time notifications from you agent so you can keep track of their progress.

Bossa Studios co-founder and Chief Spy Master, Imre Jele commented: “We are now all used to communicating via short text based messages and we felt this would be a really interesting and accessible way to tell an interactive story. Tempo AI has announced that their Smart Calendar app will now work with the Apple Watch. The app gives you all your upcoming events in a streamlined fashion so you never miss a beat. You'll be able to check important information in just one tap and contact other event attendeesto let them know if you are running late, enroute,or just arriving.

“When the Apple Watch was announced we were excited to build something entirely new for users,” said Raj Singh CEO of Tempo AI, in a press release. “Our goal for 2015 is to build for all the platforms people use to manage their day, especially wearable platforms where we can deliver smart, predictive experiences.”

I’ve had an iPhone since they first launched back in 2008. When the original first came out, it had a ton of potential but very little had been realised at that point. Heck, it didn’t even have the App Store! So excuse me while I mutter about how the Apple Watch will be great one day, but probably not until its second hardware revision has been released. The end of this month will see the release of the Apple Watch, a product that was officially announced late last year that has many people speculating about how having an extension to your phone that you actually wear will change how we operate. As someone that tries to withhold judgement about products until we know what they are - rather than what they promise to be - I have held off on figuring out how the Apple Watch could or should fit into my lifestyle.

Recently though, early reviews of the watch have come out and - upon reading them - I've been pretty disappointed. As a runner that enjoys the outdoors, I was hoping the Apple Watch would incorporate all of the things I would need to abandon all of my current running tech (namely an iPod and Garmin GPS watch) but the Apple Watch's current form just doesn't seem up to the task. Here's why.
