If you're new to the minimalist puzzler Dropple, you may find yourself struggling to make it beyond the first couple of steps before your ball falls into the endless abyss below.

But don't worry, we've got you covered. Read on for a handful of tips to help you on your way to becoming a ball-dropping champion.

Speed up

Dropple is a very quick game. The opening few drops may suggest otherwise, but after around ten steps you'll have to get fast or face failure.

Use the leisurely pace of the opening to get a few easy steps locked in place and get well ahead of the ball, or you'll be fighting for your life for the rest of the game.

Forget perfection

Those little purple things in the middle of the platforms? Forget them. Unless you desperately want a different type of ball, they're not worth collecting.

Forget about trying to make all your steps line up as well. You just need to make sure that there's enough space for the ball to land on the platform.

Your staircase may end up looking like it was built by a five year old, but you'll be raking in the points like it's nobody's business.

Understand how perspective works

OK, so that's not really a tip per se. But it certainly helps if you can understand depth and perspective.

After a point, the steps will start appearing at a different angle. You can wait for the camera to shift round, but doing so leaves you at serious risk of dropping the ball.

Instead, take a good guess of where the next platform will snap to, and try and get a few more lined up before the camera moves round so you can be sure you're ahead of the game.
