App Description
A group of friends who knew nothing about hospitality fell in love with this estate, opened since January 2009 and that was forgotten in the heart of Alentejo, on the banks of the Maranhão Dam, in Portalegre district. This group of friends quickly identified with the site and involved in entrepreneurial spirit and instead of asking “why?" they asked "why not?"
This four star hotel was born with nature and with the intention to respect nature. For this reason, the main concern of architects Pedro Alte da Veiga and Klaus Gruner was to integrate a modern, comfortable space in the Alentejo landscape, open to the field and in compliance with the new rules on energy efficiency.
But Herdade da Cortesia goes further than offering good wine and good food. In the rooms, nothing has been left to chance. The beds are king size and the sheets are those that respect the silence of a night in Alentejo and the flavour of the stars. You have no hours for breakfast.
For those who want to stay in the Herdade follow our suggestions through our App. You can book a balloon ride, a Carriage ride, a “volteiro class” and share the waters of the dam with the numerous Olympic champions of rowing, regular guests of the Hotel. Our App provides the best points of interest around, fantastic routes made by us with beautiful walks, fantastic restaurants from Alentejo and trips to explore from the adventurous ones to the most romantic.
