Tanzstore was founded in 2017 by Nanyonjo Tracy Acom student at Jiangsu International University mainland China. “As a foreign student, I struggled to raise tuition, rent, and other basic utility expenses,” she said. Motivating her to think of a way to earn a living abroad. With 200$ saved up to invest in her business, Tracy started importing products from China and selling them in Uganda. After doing this for over two years with little to no success, she began wholesaling products in 2019 during the pandemic. During this time, Tanzstore only imported products from China, but by 2020 they expanded and started importing from Vietnam, Korea, and Hong Kong.
Today, the 23-year-old small business owner has not only expanded Tanzstore into a major importing company with its own mobile application, but also continued to inspire other girls her age to work hard.
