Knights Chronicle guide - Everything you need to know about the July 26 update

Posted by Campbell Bird on July 25th, 2018

It's only been about a month since Knights Chronicle released and we're about to see our third huge update. The 1.1 release brought us the top tier attacker Morrigan along with some much-requested moves to make the game friendlier for free players, and the update that dropped just a week later added things like Haspiel Assault and the Taiyo Advent dungeon.

This latest update isn't quite out at the time of this writing, but it promises quite a few more goodies for Knights Chronicle players. See below for what some of these things might be:

Knights Chronicle guide - How to make the most of your knight selector ticket

Posted by Campbell Bird on July 16th, 2018

The best thing about Knights Chronicle is how friendly it is to players that don’t want to spend any money on it. Although it’s surface structure looks like a ton of stingy moves trying to squeeze money out of players, there are a ton of free perks Netmarble grants to players just for sticking with the game.

One of these perks is the Knight Selector Ticket, which grants players the option to choose any white or dark knight SSR units if they log into Knights Chronicle daily for 28 days. This provides an awesome opportunity for all players to fill key gaps in their current rosters with some really quality units, provided they make their choice carefully. If you’re wondering what units are best to pick for your 28 day Knight Selector Ticket, keep reading to learn how to best up your game with this sweet perk.

Who to avoid

Of the White and Dark Knights to select in Knights Chronicle, there isn’t one that stands head and shoulders above the rest as the best pick for all players. That said, there are a couple heroes that generally don’t provide a ton of utility that you should probably avoid.

Namely, Marduk, Damian, and Nemesis are pretty weak picks at the moment. Marduk struggles mostly because he only offers tons of defense without much damage output, prolonged taunting abilities, or useful hero talents. Damian, on the other hand, can become pretty great at deleting other characters, but getting him there takes a lot of investment in maxing him out, whereas Dark Knights like Ashley or Mary are pretty effective attackers almost immediately. Lastly, there’s Nemesis, who can be useful to counter teams that have a lot of reviving characters, but a lot of her damage output is dependent on generating Dark Orbs, which is a process that takes way too long at the moment.

Who to pick and why

If you pick any knights besides the three listed above, you’ll likely be a pretty happy camper, but let’s delve a little deeper into what each of these remaining characters have to offer:

    • Ramu - Despite being listed as a Hybrid-type fighter, Ramu is one of the best support characters in Knights Chroncile. This is mostly because she restores 10% of her party’s HP every turn and has the ability to revive two heroes at once with her ultimate ability. Her weakness is that she doesn’t really put out much damage at all, but all of her skills have utility outside of that that make Ramu one of the best picks you can make from this selector, both for PvP and PvE.
    • Mary - Mary is an offensive powerhouse. She has an extremely powerful ultimate ability that attacks all enemies at once and a chance to make three of her targets unable to revive. Mary is also interesting in that she gets more powerful as enemies die, making her a bigger threat the further into a fight you get. Out of all the knights available, Mary is a great pick, particularly if you want a great damage dealer for PvE missions.
    • Deimos - If Ramu sounds interesting, but you want a more traditional support character to add to your roster, Deimos is your best bet. Deimos not only provides healing, but also can remove buffs from enemies and grant Veil of Phantasm to your entire team, allowing you to avoid hard-hitting attacks right when you need to. Simply put, if you need a support hero and already have Ramu, or want someone more specialized for keeping your team alive, choose Deimos.
    • Ashley - The king of damage over time, Ashley is a great attacker to add to your party if you’re looking to build a team that excels at longer combat encounters. His kit involves an ability called Ebony Wound, which deals damage to heroes with it every turn and cannot be removed. On top of this, Ashley’s ultimate ability can do some amazing burst damage to a single target with the possibility to stunning for two turns as well. Of everyone in the selector, Ashley is probably best suited for people looking for a PvP damage dealer.

Make the best choice for your team

Ramu and Ashley are probably the best heroes to pick from this selector, but that doesn’t meant you should just blindly choose one of them. As mentioned in previous guides, Knights Chronicle is much more about having a team that works well together rather than just having a collection of powerful heroes.

At the end of the day, Mary might be just what you need to make your Dark/Water team be even more destructive, or you may want to take a chance on Marduk because you don’t have any defensive heroes at all and want to see if a future update buffs him a bit. No matter who you pick, just make sure it makes sense for your current hero box, and you can’t go wrong.

Knights Chronicle guide - How the town works, and why you should upgrade it

There’s a lot of stuff going on in Knights Chronicle, and perhaps the most out of place element in it is its town management layer. Here, instead of training heroes or fighting monsters, you’re just upgrading buildings, most of which can help you earn or purchase new materials.

Upgrading your town can be a long road, but it’s well worth investing in. See below for some more info about the town and how to upgrade it.

No matter what heroes you happen to summon in Knights Chronicle, you can customize them in a ton of different ways thanks to the game’s myriad upgrade systems. On top of granting general stat boosts, runes can also be upgraded and equipped in sets to make your heroes even more powerful. See below for some handy things to keep in mind about runes.
