Pokemon GO is still the, if you'll excuse the pun, go-to game if you want some AR action on your phone. But it's not the only choice out there, and if you've got a hankering for something a bit different, then your eyes might already have started wandering. Which is why we've written this list of the best iPhone games like Pokemon GO.
Some of them follow pretty similar templates, albeit with different franchises or concepts wrapped around them. But we've pulled a couple from leftfield as well, to give you some different options if that's what you're after. Our aim is to make sure everyone downloads at least one game from this list. We're nothing if not optimistic.
You've probably got your own suggestions about what games should be on this list. If that's the case, make sure you toss them into the comments section at the bottom of the article. And if you click here you'll be able to check out all of our other awesome game lists as well. So that's pretty neat.
Jurassic World: Alive - download for iPhone
It's Pokemon GO but instead of collecting adorable little critters, here you're picking up giant monsters from the dim and distant past. Not only that, but you're combining them together to make even more enormous and monstrous hybrids.
While the shape of the game is pretty similar, Jurassic World: Alive adds a few more layers of intrigue for players to push their faces and phones into. Plus imagine having your own army of mutated dinos, that sounds incredible, right?
The Walking Dead: Our World - download for iPhone
If you're looking for a more mature experience from your AR gaming, then this is probably the one for you. It's essentially a horror game that you play in the real world, holding up your phone or tablet to see the walkers that are stumbling around you.
There's a lot of fun to be had here, especially if you can get your friends playing along with you. It might not have the catch-'em-all heart of PokeyGo, but the fact it offers different gameplay means it's well worth checking out.
Ingress - download for iPhone
You can almost look at this one as a dry run of Poke-and-go. It's the game Niantic made before it decided people probably like Pokemon more than they like sci-fi stories about special new energy deposits that teams need to control and collect if they want to win.
It's certainly a more complex game, mixing capture the flag ideas in with its dystopian narrative. And you can expect to see more of the game in the coming months, since it's set to be turned into a TV show in the not-too-distant future.
Pokemon Quest - download for iPhone
Maybe you're not bored of catching Pokemon, maybe you're just bored of going outside. Well, in that case, why not pick up Pokemon Quest. It's not a complete experience, but it's by no means shallow either. And there's loads of things to collect.
You'll be able to build up a similar roster to the one you've got in Pokemon GO, but you can do it all from the comfort of your favorite armchair. And everyone knows that sitting down is way better than standing up, right?
Zombies, Run! - download for iPhone
This is the answer to the flip side of the last entry. Maybe you're bored of catching Pokemon, but you still want to be out and about getting up to stuff in the real world. How do you feel about running away from the undead? Because that's what Zombies, Run! is all about.
You listen to a story while you're jogging along, and it moves on when you reach a set distance. It's a really clever piece of gamification, and gives you more reason than most for that morning jog. After all, it'd be terrible getting eaten alive before you've even managed to make it to work.
