Splish, splash! The Pokémon GO Water Festival starts today

Niantic is back with a new festival for dedicated Pokémon GO collectors. The Water Festival officially kicks off today at 1 P.M. PDT and runs through March 29. Magikarp, Squirtle, Totodile, and their assorted evolved forms will be appearing at greater rates during the course of the event. That's excellent news for folks who still haven't managed to snag a Gyarados quite yet.

If you go out hunting for Pokémon where water-types are known to appear, you'll stumble across Johto region water-types at an even greater rate. Niantic hints that Lapras could be making more of an appearance, too. Players will also be getting a Magikarp hat -- a new avatar wardrobe item.

It's certainly an excellent chance to get out and enjoy the start of spring. Happy hunting!
