Noblemen: 1896 is a brand new third-person shooter that's soaring in popularity right now. The game presents an alternate version of the year 1896 in which the world is locked in war and the general populace is suffering from famine and disease.

The game certainly looks slick, but combat can be a bit tricky at times, especially if you're still getting used to it. We have a few tips to help get you on your feet.

Stay in cover at all times

Noblemen: 1896 is a cover shooter, above all, so by all means, stay in cover! If you need to move to a new spot, do so by quickly dashing to the next point of cover. Never stand up to fire in the open, or you'll be dead before you know it.

Reload manually

Ammo maintenance is a bit tricky in this game, with bullets something of a rarity. It can be hard to remember in the thick of combat, but pay attention to how much ammo you have left remaining, and take pauses to reload. Letting the game do it for you can leave you unprepared for a few valuable seconds. It's much easier to stay on top of it yourself and reload at your own whim.

Use melee with care

Pulling out your sword and slicing down some enemies is certainly a viable option, but do so with care. You should only resort to melee if you aren't currently swarmed with enemies. Wait until your opponent's numbers have dwindled before closing in for the kill.
