App Description

This app is based on the best-selling Buddy Bear software and storybooks. Speech-language pathologists and educators appreciate the specialized learning format for children with autism spectrum disorders and developmental disabilities that includes these techniques:
•simple, predictable language
•uncluttered illustrations
•cheerful, reassuring audio
•rewarding animation and sound effects
•open-ended responses
Loveable Buddy Bear contrasts opposite pairs, teaches vocabulary and concepts, and develops joint attention, reciprocity, and early language skills in five stories. Each story teaches nine opposite-pairs.
The stories present these opposite pairs (and more):
•Buddy Bear’s Clothes—dirty/clean, same/different, old/new
•Buddy Bear’s Animals—up/down, under/over, long/short
•Buddy Bear’s Toys—fast/slow, loud/quiet, white/black
•Buddy Bear’s Food—sweet/sour, hot/cold, empty/full
•Buddy Bear and Bonnie Bear—short/tall, front/back, top/bottom
Once you start the app, tap on one of the stories. Touch the back, forward, and repeat arrows for easy screen navigation. Children choose the correct answer with an easy one-tap response. Correct responses are reinforced with a friendly “Good job!”
