App Description

Although the information on the left states that this app is available in all languages, it is only presented in English.

Buddy Bear software and storybooks are a longtime favorite of speech-language pathologists. This Buddy Bear app helps children with autism spectrum disorders understand basic wh- question forms while developing early communication skills in joint attention and reciprocity.

The successful learning format includes:
•simple, predictable language
•uncluttered illustrations
•reassuring audio narration
•open-ended responses
•engaging animation and sound effects

The stories are:
•Why, Buddy Bear?
•Where, Buddy Bear?
•What, Buddy Bear?
•Who, Buddy Bear?
•When, Buddy Bear?

Once you start the app, tap on one of five stories. Back, forward, and repeat arrows provide easy screen navigation. In four of the stories, children tap on one of three picture choices to answer the questions. In the one story, they tap and drag to respond to where questions. Correct responses are reinforced with a friendly “Good job!” and an audio narrative using the correct question form.
