App Description
Riikka's Fun Maths: Adding and Subtracting - Finnish Drills' are mathematics drills that enable Finnish study methods - which have achieved outstanding results in the OECD's Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) - to be implemented in the home.
In Finland, children develop a sense of familiarity with mathematics through the incorporation of 'talking mathematics' into family communication while enjoying such activities as eating dinner and shopping. Consequently, children understand that mathematics is something fun as they learn.
This iPad application builds on the concept of the original drill book to encourage the development of children's mathematical thinking and skills through actual touching and playing experiences, which are very important for children aged 5 to 9.
