Visiting the exhibition Derain, Balthus, Giacometti. An artistic friendship.
With its exhibition Derain, Balthus, Giacometti. An artistic friendship, the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris is inviting you to discover the artistic and emotional links that united these two generations of artists. This exhibition brings an entirely new rereading of their connections in a layout that places their respective outputs alongside one another. The exhibition hinges around eight sections and brings to light their shared taste for references to art history, and also the attraction they shared for the genres of landscape, still life and portraiture. The section dedicated to their respective models enables you to understand their social circle better and how these three friends’ artistic networks functioned. Finally, the exhibition also explores subjects dear to them, which often overlapped, such as acting, the theatre, dreaming or death.
