App Description

Japalingo has been designed to support the teacher of Japanese in a classroom that utilises iPad technology. Based on the classic game of Bingo, Japalingo is a game that replaces the typical number system with Hiragana, Katakana and Kanji to challenge students in their ability to read the Japanese language characters and to recall words of a beginners learning Japanese.
With 8 levels of Hiragana, 8 Levels of Katakana, 8 Levels of numbers and time terms, and a collection of cards that contain Food, Animals and "Things Around You" terms with basic kanji to educate the future traveller, Japalingo is a fun way to develop vocabulary and reading skills.
Students can play individually to practice, or as small groups in the classic Bingo form, or in the Bingo Race format (see instructions), or as a class with the host using the "guide" pages and students using one of the 40 collections available for play.
The game has been designed to encourage peer learning through students assisting each other in small group and class games, as well as encouraging the social interaction important to learning as a class. The game has been designed by a teacher of 20 years experience with the knowledge of class teaching philosophies and classroom dynamics. His own students have played these games in class and they have been received with much enthusiasm.
