A quick beginner’s guide to Final Blade

Posted by 148Apps Staff on February 14th, 2019
+ Universal App - Designed for iPhone and iPad

Final Blade was developed by newcomer SkyPeople studio, with help from localisation guru Glohow. After two years exclusively in the hands of South Korean and Chinese players, the game is now celebrating its global launch. Hurrah! But if you’re a Western warrior who’s wet behind the ears, our handy beginner’s guide will help you prepare for the fight.

What is Final Blade?

It’s the latest anime-styled online RPG out of South Korea. There are multiple gameplay modes to get to grips with, a clan system for multiplayer co-op play, and much more.
Collect hundreds of colourful characters – all rendered in equally colourful 2.5D graphics – as you fight your way through each chapter of the fantastical story.

Speaking of, Final Blade’s plot has plenty of twists and turns but can be boiled down to a good-versus-evil epic. The game is set in a magical world, where heroes and villains are squabbling over a sword. Not just any sword, either – one imbued with the power of mythical warriors past. It’s a bit Excalibur or The One Ring. You – the Black Prince – must recruit and command a band of warriors as you attempt to ‘unmess’ the mess this world is in.

+ Universal App - Designed for iPhone and iPad

While it can sometimes seem like we are drowning in a sea of battle royale games, few struggle to actually deliver the kind of fun and frantic experience you’d expect from a refined entry in the genre. Well step aside from those other games because Munchkin.io continues to go from strength to strength, by adding a new character class and also being named by Google as one of the best indie games of the year and being globally featured in the Google Play Store starting from today.

To get anyone unfamiliar with Meerkatgames’ take of real-time battle royale genre, Munchkin.io is thought of as the lighter alternative to Fortnite and PUBG. The game prides itself on being lighter and more accessible than most other you’ll see, featuring an eclectic cast of character classes that can level up, learn new skills, and complete unique quests for rewards.

The story so far...

Five gods built the world of Hermes, but it didn't take long before they were squabbling with each other ownership. After a war between them nearly frazzled the land to bits, the gods thought it wise to lock themselves in magical objects called Soul Stones, where they could do no more harm. Unfortunately, their minion factions continued the fight. They began seeking the Soul Stones in an effort to wield godly powers against their rivals, at the risk of destroying Hermes in the process. Up pops the Albion Knights, dedicated to finding and destroying the Soul Stones to keep the world safe. And who should be within the order's ranks but you, ready to save the day.

The Reaction to Diablo: Immortal Makes No Sense

Posted by Campbell Bird on November 5th, 2018

At BlizzcCon this year, Blizzard unveiled Diablo: Immortal for the first time and it got a huge reaction. It just wasn’t exactly the kind of reaction they were expecting. This new game was met with loads of negative attention, starting with mentions of silence in the crowd at BlizzcCon, and followed by pushback in their Q&A session, massive dislikes on the YouTube trailer for the game, and Reddit posts aplenty suggesting that marketing around the game is already a full-blown conspiracy.

I watched the full trailer for Diablo: Immortal, and I’ve got to say: This reaction is kind of confusing. The game looks… fine? I don’t know. There’s just not a whole lot of information about the game in general, and definitely not enough to feel like I could have strong feelings about it at all, whether they be positive or negative.

With that in mind, I decided to try and investigate all the reasons why people are so down on Diablo: Immortal, and I can’t really find one that makes sense. Below are the reasons I see most often cited for all this Diablo: Immortal hate, along with some thoughts on why these just feel like excuses to get mad about something online.

Bowmasters character guide: All the archers you could ever want

Posted by Nicholas Tylwalk on August 10th, 2017
+ Universal App - Designed for iPhone and iPad

I don't know much about archery in real life, meaning if there's an apocalypse that leaves us having to hunt food without firearms, I won't be much help. But I've always loved archery in comics, movies, and video games, which is one of the reasons I love Bowmasters.

The game's dark humor and silly gore (if there is such a thing) help a lot too. Most of all, I just want to collect all the different characters and put them all through their paces, even if that means they'll all end up dying bloody deaths dozens of times over. C'est la vie, right?

A few new ones were added to the mix in a recent update, meaning there are now more options than ever for your arrow-shooting pleasure. Here's the entire list of Bowmasters in one handy character guide.
