South Park: Phone Destroyer guide - beginner tips and tricks

South Park made its big mobile debut last week with South Park: Phone Destroyer, a card battler featuring your favorite South Park characters. Players face off against "humans vs. aliens" style combat in the South Park crew's imaginitive, hyper-violent style.

As with many CCGs, there are a few strategies you should consider when starting out if you want to keep winning. Here are a few beginner tips to get you started.

Make sure there is a tank on the field at all times

You should always have a tank on the field (you'll start with Sheriff Cartman, to begin with) to help protect your squishier characters. Your tank will lead the charge, soaking up damage so your other units can swoop in and deal big damage. As soon as your tank gets knocked out, make sure you have energy stashed up to play a new one ASAP.

Conserve energy

Use your energy wisesly. You don't need to play all of your cards at once, and sometimes it's even enough to have just two or three lower energy cards on the field at a time. Learn how to gauge how the battle is going and use cards only where necessary. Once things get tough, you'll want to have plenty of energy stored up to pull out the big guns.

Keep a balanced deck

Your deck should be able to handle any situation the game throws at you. Make sure you have speedy assassin type characters, some ranged characters, and good tanks. Variety is key to success in Phone Destroyer, so keep this in mind when building out your first deck.

Save your premium currency

You'll earn small amounts of premium currency just by playing the game, but avoid spending it on anything but new card packs. If you're not planning on spending real life money in the game, cards should be your number onet priority. You'll need better cards to stand a better chance in tougher battles.
