Warhammer 40,000: Freebladejust launched in the App Store and it lets you live your childhood dream of blowing up and slashing a bunch of enemies as a massive, hulking Space Marine.

It's not easy being a Space Marine though - and particularly if you pride yourself on achievements - so we've spent some time as one to bring you these few tips to teach you how to fight.

Know your arsenal

You have a variety of weaponry available to you inWarhammer 40,000: Freebladeand knowing the strengths and weaknesses of each one is vital to your longterm success.

There's a light weapon, which you can use by holding down on the screen at any time, a heavy weapon, which requires a two finger tap, a chainsaw, which is used in the QTE melee combat sequences, and a mounted weapon, which can be used with a quick double tap.

The light weapon is best used against the hordes of enemies littering your screen while the heavy weapon is best used against tanks or other heavily armoured vehicles and opponents.

Just be careful you don't overheat your light weapon or run out of ammo for your heavy weapon. You can keep an eye on the indicator that appears when you fire each weapon, or their icons on the left to help you here.

Think defensively

Obviously your number one priority inFreebladeis to utterly destroy everything in your path but if you ignore your defensive duties you'll be scrap metal before you know it.

Keep an eye out for danger indicators and react to them quickly. See a blue flashing shield? Tap it to block a rocket. See grenades flying out at you? Fire your light weapon at them to destroy them before they can do you harm.

The best defense against most enemies is to just take them down as quickly as possible though. Prioritising the biggest threats in the heat of battle is also important.
