Barjees: The Middle Eastern Ludo Comes To App Store

Ahh Ludo, a game that I suspect we've all played at some point while growing up. Once it might have been the most exciting board game ever, then the years go by and we all realise that it was simply because we were young and easily pleased.

It turns out that there are other variants on the concept too such as the Middle Eastern game Barjees, which has just made its way to the App Store.

Barjees is a 2 player game where each player has 4 pieces and must move all their pieces across the board from start to finish. Rather than using dice to determine the moves, Barjees uses cowry shells instead. Traditonally the game is also played on a cloth board.

While there's no cloth to be seen here, the iOS adaptation sets out to bring the traditional feel of the game to the device. And you know what? It's just as fun as Ludo was all those years ago.

Barjees is out now for all iOS devices and is priced at $2.99.
