Let’s get this immediately out of the way: Tiny Troopers: Alliance isn’t like other Tiny Troopers games. It owes more to Clash of Clans, Boom Beach et al, than anything Tiny Troopers esque. Is that a bad thing? That’s going to depend how much you enjoy building a base and defending it from opponents.
As is generally the way with these kind of games, you start out with a small base and some big plans for domination. Tiny Troopers: Alliance offers a short tutorial and a set of challenges to complete as its main form of structure. There’s a campaign mode too, alongside random fights with other players around the world.
It’s hardly any time at all before you’re upgrading buildings and having to wait a while for them to complete, thanks to the ever-present set of timers. Fortunately Tiny Troopers: Alliance is reasonably generous with dishing out the premium currency that’s available, but you’d be wise to hold onto them for when you’re really desperate, rather than just impatient.
You can form alliances too, hence the name, and these are pretty useful when it coms to remaining safe in the aggressive world of Tiny Troopers: Alliance.
However, the most fun is gleaned from fighting it out. The campaign mode is useful in giving you a sense of progression, while starting up grudge matches with random foes is always satisfying. It’s made all the more so as you watch your battle rank gradually improve, thereby giving you more time to fight it out with your foe. This is also where Tiny Troopers: Alliance dishes out its best feature: you know how frustrating it is that you can’t direct your troops to specific targets in Clash of Clans? Tiny Troopers: Alliance does away with that. You can direct them to anywhere you want and it makes a huge difference to how enjoyable it is.
Otherwise, it’s mostly business as usual for the genre. Tiny Troopers: Alliance is quite fun despite those restrictive timers, but it’s fairly typical stuff. Having said that, I found that being able to control my troops directly certainly made me more enthusiastic to fight it out. Given that’s where the fun really is, it ensures that Tiny Troopers: Alliance is more likely to remain on your iOS device for a little longer than most.
