Now that Flappy Bird has vanished from the App Store, there are clones popping up all over the place. Everyone is looking for the next best game to get their fix. While Tiny Goalie isn’t exactly like Flappy Bird, it uses a similar formula to provide gamers with an easy to learn but hard to master gameplay experience.

It’s quite simple to play Tiny Goalie. Just slide a finger to the left or the right to maneuver the pixelated player in order to save flying soccer balls. The objective is to get the highest score possible by stopping all the soccer balls that fly toward the goalie. This may sound easy enough but failure to stop a goal or getting hit by flying red water bottles means it’s game over. Players must then start over to try to improve their score.

Players receive 10 points for every soccer ball that is blocked, and the combo meter raises as long as they continue to block these shots. There are also score multiplier badges that are awarded throughout the game which helps players beat their friends’ scores. Scores can be shared through social media and they can also be viewed on Game Center as well. Tiny Goalie also features four in-game medals to earn that include Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum.

Tiny Goalie is a simple yet addictive game. The graphics have a retro appeal that work well with the smooth gameplay. There’s really little to complain about other than that the free game does feature ads. The ads don’t appear to interrupt the gameplay, but it would be nice to offer a paid version that removes them. Overall, Tiny Goalie is definitely the next time killer to make people forget about Flappy Bird. It’s simple on the surface, challenging to conquer, and fun to play almost any time of the day. Since it’s free to download, it’s certainly worth adding to the gaming collection.
