Much like Timeline Civil War, Timeline WW1 is a fantastic resource of information for those interested in certain periods of history. Capturing the essence of the battles involved, as well as how the Great War affected the people wrapped up in it, Timeline WW1 is both a fascinating and bleak reminder of what our ancestors struggled through.
Perhaps most fascinating of all is that Timeline WW1 doesn't just stick to the facts and battles - it also looks at the human factor of war. It's possible to read diaries of those caught up in it, as well as filter the app to look at how those on the home front dealt with things, and the role of women at war. It brings it alive and demonstrates the harshness of such a time well. It's tough to not feel almost guilty to be sitting in the warmth of one's home, reading such events on an iPad, and feeling immediately lucky to be safe.
As before, Timeline WW1 requires a lot of space and a wi-fi connection for some features, but as a coffee table style interactive book, it accomplishes so much. As an educational tool for those studying the era and for those simply involved in learning more, it's downright essential.
