Super Squares Review

Super Squares is a free puzzle game that’s ideal for players of all ages. The goal is to connect colorful squares and collect all the stars on each level to move on to the next. The catch is that there are bricks that need to be blown up along the way with bombs to clear paths, and players have only so many bombs to use on each level so bricks must be blown carefully.

A quick tutorial helps guide players through the game’s mechanics. Players must tap on either a green, pink, or blue square and then slide their finger to the corresponding colorful square, all while catching stars along the way. Connecting each color pair and catching all the stars means that players can then move on to the next level. Paths can be redrawn by tapping on the start or end point.

Bricks that block paths can be blown up by tapping on them, but be careful because the bombs are limited. Players can restart a level and get another chance, but Super Squares only comes with a limited number of chances. Players can wait 25 minutes for these chances to refill or they can purchase a refill for $0.99 or unlimited chances for $2.99.

Unfortunately, that is not the only in-app purchase in Super Squares. The game initially comes with 300 free levels, but those wishing for more fun will need to purchase either a single level pack for $0.99 or all the levels for $3.99. Players can also buy additional bombs as needed which range from 10 bombs for $0.99 to 50 bombs for $2.99.

Of course, 300 free levels isn’t a bad deal for those wanting an addicting and pick-up-and-play game that’s great for killing a few minutes. Super Squares becomes progressively more difficult as players advance, which makes it even harder to stop playing. It’s a puzzle game that’s definitely worth downloading as it has plenty of replay value packed into it.
