Ever wanted to add some dub step or techno to your video clips? No? Oh, well you can do exactly that with Dubify, anyhow. Taking mere moments to set up, your various video clips can enjoy a backing track of electronic music with a hint of drum and bass. It’ll even remix your clip to sync up with the music quite well. For a novelty app, it’s not bad at all, even if it is a little restrictive for free.

For free, you get the choice of three tracks to mix things up with. There’s Dubstep, sounding exactly how you would expect and including a rewind section, Techno that plays the scene forwards and backwards to create a dancing effect, and Wobble, which is pretty self-explanatory. Choose the track and then it’s up to you whether to import a video yourself or let the app do things randomly.

Opting to make your own clips is pretty straightforward also, with it simply a matter of picking out individual frames. Again, it doesn’t take long and the results are entertaining if quirky.

In the free version you’re stuck with a watermark at the end of each video, but $1.99 gets rid of that and adds some new tracks, extending your options. It’s still more of an option for those who are super-keen on the music however, as Dubify is pretty simple otherwise. Having said that, add some dubstep to a cute video of a beloved pet or child and you’ll be surprised how bizarrely humorous it is. Still, it’s the kind of thing to dabble with for a brief time but not exactly remember to use for any great length.
