How to power through Super Powerboy

Super Powerboy is what you get when you mix a runner with something like Mega Man. With some difficult platforming and a whole host of unlockable moves, the late stages of the game can get pretty complicated and unforgiving. To help you cruise through these levels a bit easier, here are some tips:

Follow the energy

The collectible energy crystals in Super Powerboy are the best indicator of the "right" route to go along. This doesn't mean the path will be easy, but if you want to have a run where you earn all possible crystals, following the paths indicated by collectibles is your best bet.

Memorize enemy types

Every enemy in Super Powerboy has a pretty specific way of being dealt with, so spamming the punch button or trying to jump over every enemy isn't advised. Early in the game, make sure you take mental notes on how to deal with every enemy type you come across, because they'll definitely be thrown in the mix of later levels. Since you can't stop your hero from charging ahead, do the next best thing by training yourself how to react to each enemy at a glance.

Replay levels instantly instead of moving on

If you find yourself just scraping by a stage or failing over and over again, it's almost always a good idea to keep trying the level until you get the result you want. Because levels in Super Powerboy rely quite a bit on quick reactions, coaching yourself on stages through repetition is the name of the game. If you do this on each level before moving onto the next one, you'll have the added bonus of having the details of the stage fresh in your memory, which will allow you to breeze through any given level more quickly than if you bounce around between stages.
