Shadowgun Legends is the latest game in the Shadowgun series, and it's taking the franchise in some interesting new directions. Which is good news. The even better news is that it's coming out tomorrow, so if you didn't make it into the beta you don't have long to wait to get your hands on it.

So we thought we'd give you a quick primer on what to expect when you step into Legends for the first time. Hence this rather excellent piece of content. If you've got your own ideas to share, feel free to chuck them in the comments at the bottom of the article.

What is it?

The easiest way to describe Shadowgun Legends is that it's Destiny for mobile. But that's sort of a cheap shot. There's a lot more going on here than that, but Bungie's MMO shooter is definitely behind some of the game's ideas.

You play a mercenary who's out to become famous. To do that you compete in a series of different missions. Some of them are story based, and there's PvP multiplayer too. You can take your friends along on the campaign too, which is a cool touch.

So it is Destiny then

Well, no. Shadowgun Legends is a far less po-faced experience. For one thing you're rewarded with fame as you complete your missions. This turns you into a celebrity in the Shadowgun universe. You'll get a title, and the persistent hub will change when you come back to cheer your arrival.

Plus you can get really drunk and stumble around. Like I say, Destiny is definitely the inspiration here, but Shadowgun Legends runs off on its own, giggling while it does. The shooting here is clearly built from the ground up for mobile as well, so it's much more than just a Destiny rip-off.

How much is there to do?

According to Madfinger the game offers 200 plus mission to complete. These are spread across 4 different planets. On top of that there's the competetive multiplayer aspect too. So Shadowgun Legends is by no means a small game.

You've also got hundreds of weapons to collect, and hundreds of pieces of armour. And if you're into making your character stand out, there are 150 different cosmetic changes you can make. Like I say, this one's a big 'un.

Anything else I should know?

The game is free to play, but there aren't any pay walls. And there are some really interesting social features here too. Madfinger has clearly put a good deal of thought into what makes games like this tick, and the end result could well be something special.

Shadowgun Legends is set to land on iOS and Android tomorrow. And we reckon it could be one of the most interesting mobile games in a long while.
