A meteor is trapped inside your planet’s atmosphere and is trying to get out.

The problem is that it is this meteor’s movement that is preventing your planet from becoming inhabitable. You must keep the meteor within the circle of your planet in order to prevent it from exploding. This may appear easier than you think but the gravity of both objects will keep you jumping as you try to adjust for the meteor’s movements.
