Friendly Metro Taipei APP: The most detailed accessibility & friendly service information of Taipei Metro!

The disabled and the designers creating shared values and making a city more friendly, is the design concept of our innovative public space guiding service, the Friendly Metro Taipei APP.

Through observing and participating in the commute of our partners with disabilities, a.k.a. the "Love Correspondents", we explored the searching, rerouting, and confusing situations experienced by passengers in various inconveniences, such as: Which exit has the elevator or ramp? Where are the accessible toilets, parent/kid toilets, breastfeeding rooms, charging outlets and information counters?

So we designed the Friendly Metro Taipei APP, a smart mobile guiding service that redrew the metro station maps and presents all subway information in a more human and friendly manner. With the help of our "Love Correspondents", we surveyed Taipei Metro’s 5 main routes and 111 stations, wrote reminders, and took photos of elevators and toilets so that people who find the maps confusing can still navigate.

The APP automatically positions the metro station nearest you and provides detailed accessibility and friendly service information, including elevators, toilets, exits, ramps, charging outlets, breastfeeding rooms, information counters, moving directions, facility maps, photos, and friendly reminders from our disabled friends about the moving direction, transfer information, things to pay attention to and improvement for the future.

To fulfill love with wisdom and technology, we believe “because there are friendly people, there are friendly cities”. The most precious thing of our design is, the Friendly Metro Taipei APP was completed by our "Love Correspondents", who wish to “create conveniences for everyone with their own inconveniences” together with passionate young designers across 12 universities in Taiwan.

We hope this APP would allow every elderly, pregnant, infant, injured and mobility-impaired person to ride the Taipei Metro in a more convenient manner so that the Taipei Metro would become an exemplar of a world-class friendly metro!
