App Description

***Students' Choice Award Winner from Serious Games Showcase and Challenge!***

National Geographic Education presents an immersive and engaging journey through United States history! The Underground Railroad: Journey to Freedom is a "choose your own adventure" style game that incorporates 3-D experiences and an interactive map tracking your progress. Every choice you make affects the outcome of the game.

You are a slave. You belong to a farmer who owns a tobacco plantation on the eastern shore of Maryland. Six long days a week you tend his field. But not for much longer . . . What will you do? Make your choices well as you embark on your journey to freedom.

Played from a first-person perspective, the game pulls you into the action as you escape and head north toward freedom. Along the route, you make key decisions that will lead you to one of several possible outcomes. Talk to historical figures and get information from primary source documents to make decisions on your path north.
