In producing this guide each year we spend more than six months crisscrossing the country, knife and fork in hand, kicking the tyres of old favourites, putting new players through their paces and generally taking stock of the nation’s dining scene.
With over 800 venues, this year’s guide not only features reviews of the nation’s top eateries, but also showcases the best of the rest. At the tap of a finger, this user-friendly app will give you the Gourmet Traveller team’s recommendations for the best bars, cafes, cheap eats and business lunches, just to name a few!

Stay up to date with the latest and best eats around the country right now with the Hot Plates section, refreshed weekly with our critics' favourite picks. Plus, receive notifications whenever a new restaurant is added, so you never miss a review again!
See what restaurants are trending around you with the "like" function, or share your experiences with other users by tapping "like" on your favourite eateries – and if you want to see all your best-loved restaurants on one list, simply select "My likes" in the filter screen.
Search for venues by restaurant name or via map view, which pins all featured restaurants nearby. You have a wide range of filters to choose from, including cuisine, location, rating and opening hours. Once you’ve found the right restaurant, book a table from inside the app directly or call the restaurant with just one tap.
