App Description
The App contains the entire text of the “il Devoto-Oli dei Sinonimi e Contrari”, Italian synonyms and antonyms dictionary by M. Trifone, published by Le Monnier.
Features in detail:
• 361,000 synonyms and 110,000 antonyms and reverse, grouped following their usage label
• 90,000 meanings, annotated with definition and examples
• 9,000 idiomatic expressions
• 1,000 sequences of semantic grades, for a better comprehension of the semantic relation between words.
Application features:
• Multiple search engine, direct typing, alphabetical and intertextual search, which makes it possibile to go from one word just tapping on them
• Personal favourite list, built by tagging the favourite terms
• Capability of sharing a term by sending its definition by e-mail or by posting it on Twitter and Facebook
• Headwords customization associating textual notes, pictures and videos to the definition (iPad version only)
• History list containing the recently searched terms
• Meaning of the main abbreviations used in the dictionary, appearing upon tapping on the corresponding short form
• Back-up of the personalization of entries and the list of favorites
• The “Scuoti la parola” gadget, which shows – upon start – a random selection of a term of the dictionary.
• The “Sfoglialibro”, which lets you browse the whole dictionary by reproducing in the digital version the experience of the paper version (iPad version only)
“il Devoto-Oli dei Sinonimi e Contrari” has a functional and innovative structure, which allows the reader to quickly and confidently select the best synonym related to the context: all the meanings are introduced by a brief definition, all the synonyms and antonyms are grouped based on the linguistic code (elementary, high, literary, etc..) and sector (physics, medicine, IT etc..).
