To anyone from Pune (or anywhere else in India, for that matter), The High Spirits is pretty much synonymous with independent music, crazy parties, Khodu and of course, the City that it is a part of. Every day of the week, 365 days in a year, it is home to a large number of college junta, school kids, aunty uncles and even the older lot. And why not? There’s something for practically everyone. You can go stand in a corner and enjoy a gig, play foosball or table tennis with friends, chill with the dogs that are invariably there, have a romantic dinner with that special someone or just shut the fuck up and be a part of whatever it is that’s happening around you.It isn’t about the fact that it’s centrally located in Koregaon Park with enough hotels nearby for the after-party (*wink wink*). It’s about the experience it guarantees. And the fact that you can always come home to Da High! Ask the karaoke singers, the bladder burst regulars, the bands that have come and played and loved it every time. They all know what it’s about. But no one can quite describe it. Indian and International acts spread across every genre possible, Sunday Cookouts that see the crowd giving up their afternoon siestas and dressed to party-it is more. So much more. And you have to feel it, experience it to believe it!
