There may not be another city in the land that came to life in quite the unique way Sparks did, literally springing up overnight. Spend the day learning about Sparks proud heritage on a self guided tour of Sparks Museum, followed by a walk through Sparks’ history on a GPS based tour of downtown. Inside the Museum visitors explore 4000 square feet of engaging exhibits giving one a good sense of the rapid changes the region has undergone from ranching and mining to the introduction of the railroad and into modern times, including the significant role the region has played in the Space program. The Walking Tour focuses on the original business district with each stop providing visitors with a glimpse into the past with vintage photographs of each building and site. “Stories of Nevada’s Past” are shared by Fred Horlacher and other historians through the audio at designated stops.
