The Cosmetology state board exam is broken down into two components that both need to be passed in order to gain licensing- a practical portion and a written portion.
The Cosmetology 2024 is broken down as follows: Scientific Concepts (30%), Hair Care and Services (40%), Skin Care and Services (15%), and Nail Care and Services (15%).
