What's New

Lock and Home Screen safe area wallpaper has been improved. You can now WRAP images, as well as stretch them, in the safe area.

★ Wrapping leaves the image un-stretched, but fills in any surrounding black bars with reflections of the image, giving you full screen wallpaper imagery with your image unobstructed in the safe area, and no black bars surrounding it.

★ Stretched safe area wallpaper now includes a reflection at the bottom, to eliminate the black bar behind the bottom controls (unlock slider or dock).

You'll find this much more attractive, and you can work these effects on YOUR images as well.

★ Add a thumbnail navigation screen.

★ Updated the help file.

App Description

This app contains 137 ultra high definition, premium images of dragonflies and damselflies (113), butterflies (17) and other "bugs" (7). These are all original images by professional photographer Paul Richman of Pixels By Paul.

The help file now discusses professional dragonfly photographic technique in detail, and provides links to related information. The discussion includes camera and lens selection, teleconverters, extension tubes, camera settings, use of flash, support, measuring specimen just by using the photograph (the "magic ruler"), and image processing including Lightroom settings and Photoshop technique. With this and the addition of EXIF data (camera exposure data) and author comments for each photograph, this app now provides significant information to help serious photographers find and photograph dragonflies and damselflies.

This is one of a series of ''Ultra-HD'' Pixels By Paul apps. Why "Ultra-HD"? Because including exceptionally high definition images offers the user several advantages over the usual screen sized imagery in most apps:

★ You see much more detail in these images.
★ You can select parts of an image to use as wallpaper in any orientation, without sacrificing sharpness or detail.
★ Many of these images look great, and make fascinating wallpaper, when they are stretched or squished to fit your device's screen. This can be done in any orientation, without sacrificing sharpness or detail, due to the ultra high definition of these images.
★ Slideshows are also more fun because they include scrolling across large images.

This app is designed to entertain, with its fun flipping browsing interface, and with its slideshows. It can also produce lovely wallpaper for your devices.

A unique feature of this series of Pixels By Paul apps is their ability to size wallpaper to fit within wallpaper safe areas. Safe areas are the areas in the Lock and Home Screens which are not blocked by the status bar, date/time bar, unlock slider, and dock. Pictures can be fitted to the safe area while keeping their original aspect (the ratio of height to width is maintained), or pictures can be stretched or squeezed to completely fill the safe areas. Stretched images have a reflection at the bottom, so that they fade smoothly behind the bottom controls.

You can also wrap your images, as in a gallery wrap print. Wrapped images keep their aspect ratio (remain un-stretched), but any surrounding black bars are filled in with reflections of the image.

You can make such safe area wallpapers from the pictures in this app, and you can do this with your own pictures as well.
