App Description

Grant Allen (1848-1899) was a science writer, author and novelist, and a successful upholder of the theory of evolution. It was during a holiday while at the college that Allen became exposed to the works of Charles Darwin and Edward Clodd; and became an agnostic and committed socialist. Upon arriving back in England in 1876 he immediately contacted Edward Clodd, and they remained friends for the rest of his life. It was also around this time that Allen became a prolific writer, and was known for both science essays and also works of literature.
