App Description

This application will help you to meet one of the most beautiful parks of continental Croatia. Experts consider the Valpovo park to be one of the most important historical parks in continental Croatia. It was created as a park space of the castle with which it forms a unique and indivisible whole. At the beginning of the 19th century, part of the former Baroque park-forest and hunting ground Zvjerinjak was transformed into a spacious landscape park that spreads funnel-shaped on about 25 hectares from the castle to the south. Two special values ​​of this park are: baroque landscaping of the 18th century with a star-shaped intersection in the park-forest of the hunting ground Zvjerinjak, whose traces can still be seen today, and in its original form preserved English-style landscape park with spacious meadows and vistas. Within the park there is a baroque-classicist castle Prandau-Normann in Valpovo, built in the 1920s on the remains of a defensive fortress, with its front palace and two wings connected to a medieval defense tower and a court chapel, an indispensable segment of every a visit to the city. Its preservation of the whole and the historical stratification of the fortress - castle puts Valpovo castle by categorization among the three most valuable castles in Croatia.
