App Description

The rivers have always been the cradle of great civilizations, and Egypt is no exception. The Nile River was not only essential for the irrigation and fertilization of the fields but also a source of resources in itself.

The papyrus plant grew naturally in the marshiest areas at the Nile’s delta, and its uses were multiple. The papyrus stem was used to make small boats, however its most important use was for the elaboration of papyrus, a kind of leaf used as a support for writing and which became a characteristic of the Egyptian culture.
