Kabir Das was a renowned 15th-century Indian mystic poet and saint. His writings influenced Hinduism's Bhakti movement and his verses are also found in Sikhism's scripture Adi Granth. His poems were in vernacular Hindi, borrowing from various dialects including Avadh, Braj, and Bhojpuri.

His early life was in a Muslim family, but he was strongly influenced by his teacher, the Hindu bhakti leader Ramananda.
