App Description
Cephalonia is the largest of the Ionian Islands, and its name may be related to this fact, as one possible meaning may be that of the `head’(`kefali’) of the Ionian Islands. According to another old version, the island was the homeland of the mythical hero and king Cephalus or the homeland of the ancient people known as the Cephallinians or Cephallanians. Cephalonia is a land of contrasts. Peaceful beaches and bays are succeeded by coastlines that cut abruptly into the sea. Elsewhere, the forests, covered in the singular Cephalonian fir tree, generously proffer their shade, creating a unique variation in landscapes.
