App Description

“AR Sai-ji/Rajomon” is an application that uses computer graphics to allow users to experience Kyoto as it was 1200 years ago, including Sai-ji Temple—the counterpart to To-ji Temple—as well as Rajomon Gate marking the front of Heian-kyo (ancient Kyoto), and Suzaku-oji (Suzaku Avenue), the main street that led away from the gate. The CG renditions give users a first-hand perspective as if they were there in historical times.
The application brings these sites to life through when used on a smartphone or similar device at Sai-ji Temple ruins and at Rajomon Gate ruins and nearby bus stops in Kyoto City’s Minami Ward.
The detailed designs of the ceiling, pillars, and walls in addition to the tile roof and gilded roof decorations seen from above are particularly remarkable, and users can use the app to take commemorative photos alongside the CG renditions.
Travel back in time 1200 years to ancient Kyoto using “AR Sai-ji/Rajomon”!
