Francisco (Latin Franciscus and Italian, Francesco), secular name Jorge Mario Bergoglio (Buenos Aires, Argentina, December 17, 1936) is the Pope of the Catholic Church. As such, he is the head of state of Vatican City. After the resignation of Benedict XVI, he was elected March 13, 2013 on the fifth ballot held during the second day of the conclave.
Pope Francisco, he is known by attitude of humility, concern for the poor, hence the "father of the poor", and its commitment to dialogue with people of different backgrounds and faiths or religions. He chose the name Francis in honor of St. Francis of Assisi.
